How can you most successfully grow your YouTube subscriber base?
YouTube is a great way to reach a wide audience, as well as engage people through short (or not so short) videos. It also can help you establish yourself as an expert in your field.
1. Know the YouTube Algorithm
YouTube does not want you to use your videos to drive traffic to your personal website or landing page. YouTube wants you to make great content that will make people watch more videos and see more ads. The algorithm rewards channels whose viewers watch videos until the end and have addictive content. I highly recommend removing all external links from your YouTube to build your subscriber base. – Matt Wilson, Under30Experiences
2. Drive Up Awareness Through External Sites
Aside from YouTube SEO, sharing your YouTube videos on social media sites, Vimeo, and your native website is the best way to get people to view your videos and drive traffic to your Youtube channel. Continually promote videos on social media posts to build awareness around your channel, and invite people to subscribe to your YouTube channel below embedded videos. – Kristopher Jones, LSEO.com
3. Hold an Email Campaign
Create an email campaign with the goal of increasing YouTube subscribers and share with your database. Include various benefits for subscribing to your YouTube channel and make the email sharable, so they can tell their friends. And make sure to include a link, so they can quickly subscribe. – Murray Newlands, Sighted
4. Consistently Create Content
You need to keep generating content over time. Try to take an experimental approach to what you are trying to distribute, but the most important thing is to be consistent with your distribution. Not only will this allow you to grow your audience and subscriber lists, but it will also help you to stay in the habit of building quality content. – Nicole Munoz, Start Ranking Now
5. Educate Your Viewers
Don’t approach your YouTube channel as a tool to sell. Your YouTube channel should be an avenue to educate people. Give before you collect. Share your knowledge with your customer, and be open and generous with your experience. Don’t withhold anything: Give, share and teach. Viewers will repay you with their engagement, comments and shares. Once you have established a following, start to close. – Diego Orjuela, Cables & Sensors
6. Make Sure to Use Attractive Thumbnails
So many people overlook the thumbnail for their YouTube videos. It’s one of the most important aspects of YouTube: You can have the most interesting video in the world, but without an interesting thumbnail to match, no one will ever click on it to find out. A thumbnail that’s well designed, with an appealing image and font, will help boost your views and subscriptions. – Bryce Welker, Beat The CPA
7. Repurpose Your Content
It’s difficult to be in all places with limited funds and time. So one thing that has helped us is repurposing content across multiple platforms. For example, we’ll post an article on one of our blogs and then take that same content — such as images and verbiage, for instance — to make a quick video out of it for YouTube. This helps get the same message across in a different way and increase reach. – Syed Balkhi, OptinMonster
8. Cross-Post Content
Don’t just rely on posting your videos to YouTube. Schedule them for every social platform, and schedule them multiple times. Make sure to re-post videos you’ve already posted when the content is relevant to something happening in your business, community or even in world news. – Kevin Conner, BroadbandSearch
9. Keep Videos Short
Shorter is usually better. Viewer attention spans continue to shrink. Keeping your videos under five minutes will make it more realistic that people will watch the entire clip and not grow tired of your content. – Abhilash Patel, Abhilash.co
10. Collaborate With Other Channels
Team up with other YouTube personalities to create compelling content and to extend the reach of your videos by tapping their fan base, while allowing them to gain access to your subscribers, too. When you partner with like-minded YouTube channels, you can grow your subscriber base with real viewers, people who are already interested in the type of videos you publish. – Firas Kittaneh, Amerisleep
11. Add CTA Annotations
Throughout every YouTube video, add call-to-action annotations. Create compelling CTA annotations to help promote your channel an offer, or a marketing resource. When the user watches the video, they will see the CTA annotations pop up. When they click on the CTA’s, they could get directed to your channel page or the promotion, so the user can sign up to be a new YouTube subscriber. – Solomon Thimothy, OneIMS
