Whether you’re on Instagram, Facebook, Twitter or any social platform for that matter – the art of gaining likes remains quite similar across all fronts. Gaining likes is a great way to help establish your brand’s credibility, expand your reach and gain authority for your social media profiles.
There are 2 ways you can gain likes – either through organic visibility or via paid media. Regardless of whether you’re using paid media or trying to gain likes organically – here are some tips on how to gain likes no matter what social media platform you are on.
1. Compelling Images
Using compelling images is a no brainer.
The image should not only resonate with your target audience but should also be attractive enough to users to pique their curiosity — and compelling enough for users to click on your content.
For example, if you’re tasked with creating an ad or post on social media targeting people who are interested in canoeing – try using a lifestyle image with a person in a canoe settled in the midst of the wilderness. Be creative!
People engage more with images than they do with text so use this to your advantage.
2. Targeting Options And Hashtags
Most social media ad platforms allow brands to target users who are specifically interested in a certain product, service or experience. Use the right targeting options to reach your desired audience – thus helping you get more likes.
Most social media platforms also allow you to use hashtags for organic visibility. Ensure you’re using hashtags (for platforms that use them) when trying to gain likes organically.
Tools like Hastagify.me and Tagboard allows you to source trending hashtags , helping you gain more organic visibility for your content.
3. Killer Headlines
Ensure there is continuity from your images, to your copy, to your headlines.
Remember that when people are on social media they’re not necessarily looking for a product or service. They’re there to see what others are doing and posting. So harnessing that user’s attention can be a challenge.
Consider each message an advertisement for your brand and write headlines that are more likely to capture their attention while they’re in surf mode.
Humorous headlines are more likely to get a like than headlines of more serious tones .
4. Call To Action
One of the best ways to get people to like your content is to ask them to! Copy such as “like us today” or “like us and…” or “like this if…” are great ways for getting more likes.
Some platforms have rules around using this messaging in social media paid ads; read the terms and policies of the platform before using this.
Also, ensure that there is an incentive that is of value to your users if you want to secure that like.
