Are You Uploading Videos Directly To Facebook Yet?

Last week I had the honor to present at the Visual Social Media Conference, a virtual online social media conference.

I was asked to present about Facebook Video Marketing.

Why?

Because I create and upload videos to Facebook!

Have you done that yet?

If you haven’t I hope this article will convince you to turn on your Smartphone and turn the camera on yourself.

ASAP.

Today I’d like to share a few of the slides I created for the presentation.

Facebook Video Marketing Tips!

Taking FEAR out and putting FUN in; I promised to make it fun…
[Read to the end and you’ll get a first hand look at a FUN VIDEO I created!]

Natively uploaded videos get 52x more views than YouTube videos uploaded to Facebook’

This means that when you have a video to share, do not upload it to YouTube first, upload it Facebook first!
After it’s run its course there, then upload it to YouTube for a more permanent place!

One of the reasons Facebook videos get so many more views is the new Facebook algorithm, which favors natively uploaded content vs links.
The second reason is the new auto-play feature on Facebook which shows videos in your newsfeed!

Another few great reasons to post videos to Facebook are these three:

You already have a ‘captive’ audience on Facebook.

It’s a large platform with worldwide reach!

You can advertise – using video!

From the 3rd quarter Facebook report that came out last week we learn

VIDEO ON FACEBOOK IS HUGE!

8 billion daily video views
500 million users watch videos daily
1.5 million businesses posted videos in the month of September alone, including video ads

Brands are now uploading more videos to Facebook than to YouTube

12

So that begs the question:

“Do you have to use professional Facebook videos?”

Absolutely…NOT!
There’s a time and place for professionally created videos, but Facebook videos go way beyond that!

14

Use your own ‘home made’ videos to:

  • ENTERTAIN
  • EDUCATE
  • INSPIRE

16

And believe it, or not, ‘22 seconds is the number for best completion rates for Facebook videos,’ according to SocialBakers.

Meaning…short is best!

By the way…

In order for a video view to count, the video needs to be watched for at least 3 seconds.

How are you making sure people stay and watch more than 3 seconds of your video?

Get set up and get creative!

Here are four quick tips for DIY Facebook Video Marketing with your Smartphone:

1. Choose the right (plain) backdrop. A blank wall will do just fine.

2. Immobilize your Smartphone. Get a stand, or lean it against something.

3. Use your headset and its volume + botton to start and stop your videos.

4. Record horizontal. This won’t matter much for mobile, but it is better if you plan to repurpose your content on other platforms.

‘92% of mobile viewers share videos with their friends’

I’d like to be in on that!

You?

Go ahead and create a video.

Just turn your Smartphone around and record!

Here is my last tip.
