Abandoned Carts No Problem As Online Shopping Booms: Study
Abandoned carts can be reclaimed with email prompts, judging by a new study by Adtaxi’s 2-23 Ecommerce Survey.
Of online consumers polled by Survey Monkey, 88% say a prompt or reminder will persuade them to return to their carts.
Firms that fail to send such prompts are leaving money on the table given that 93% of online adults now engage in ecommerce during the typical month, compared to 70% in 2017.
Moreover, 25% of online shoppers do so on a daily basis, up from 5% in 2017. In addition, 66% shop online weekly, compared to 27% six years ago.
Consumers say the main benefits of online shopping are convenience (79%), price comparisons (51%) and finding coupons (46%).
The study also found that 78% of online shoppers now use a mobile phone more than any other device type. In addition, 46% use a laptop, 30% a tablet and 20% utilize a desktop.
The most popular products are:
- Apparel/fashion — 67%
- Beauty/personal care — 53%
- Health or wellness — 51%
- Groceries or food items — 44%
In the bottom two places are CBD (10%) and mattresses (8%).
”The survey confirms that online shopping is viewed as essential for a majority of Americans,” says Chris Loretto, executive vice president of Adtaxi.
But Loretto warns, “As inflation continues, it is important for digital marketers to continue capturing the attention of digital audiences to stay top of mind when the economy inevitably rebounds. In the meantime, simple offers for free shipping or online coupons can drive consumers to action.”(7)
