Instagram is primed for mobile and social commerce with over 400 million users worldwide. Especially for brands and artists, Instagram fosters a heightened sense of intimacy and engagement when compared against other social networks.
With millions of users consuming images for 21 minutes per day, Instagram influencers are finding new ways to create content that captivates and inspires, for more than just a quick double tap.
Instagram banners have become more mainstream since A$ AP Rocky announced his new album on Instagram by uploading countless blank white photos. Banner artwork wasn’t as mainstream as it is today, and Rocky lost over 100,000 followers in 10 hours as a result.
Thanks to artists such as @asvpxrocky and @micahnotfound who treat their profiles as a scrolling canvas of photos to profile their work, Instagram banners are yet another way for artists to showcase their visual aesthetic and promote themselves. What was once considered disruptive has become a bit more mainstream. Especially now with a selection of apps to choose from.
