LinkedIn Plays With Connections
LinkedIn Pages earlier this week released updates to its platform that are intended to increase the value for community members without the need to search on topics. The features and content — aimed at building stronger relationships with followers, customers and employees — give users more ways to post specific content, expand their Page audience and, yes, even educate and entertain.
The targeting feature, stream targeting, and three new tools — Invite to Follow, Stream with LinkedIn Live, and the option to Post as a Page or Member — are intended to make it easier for businesses to connect with consumers, customers, and employees.
During the next few weeks, LinkedIn plans to roll out a stream targeting feature that uses third-party tools such as Restream, Wirecast and Socialive to help brands reach audiences with different languages and locations worldwide.
Invite to follow helps businesses reach new audiences. Admins with Pages that have less than 100,000 followers can invite members to follow, but are limited to sending 50 invitations daily, and users have the option to opt out of receiving invites.
LinkedIn Live is now available for Pages, allowing companies to connect with customers and employees in real-time.
Ting Ba, group product manager at LinkedIn, said the live streams go through an application process for the Page, and then sign up with a partner to live stream the event.
Two-way conversations on the screen drive real-time participation through comments. Notifications of a Page going live are sent to followers, who have push notifications enabled and already engage with video on LinkedIn.
LinkedIn said the number of companies with access to LinkedIn Live has grown about 45% quarter-over-quarter from the company’s first fiscal quarter to the second.
With the new updates — Post as Page or Member — admins can choose whether they would like to post as an individual or as their organization. A home page toggle switch can be found on the home page.
