Domo released its fifth annual “Data Never Sleeps 5.0” infographic. This informative visual provides insight into consumers’ behavior on the internet.
The infographic details the data generated online every minute on the top applications and platforms.
The report indicates that 90% of all online data was created in the last 2 years, that is 2.5 quintillion bytes of data per day.
A Few Highlights
Text is Tops – The Data Never Sleeps 4.0 infographic from last year indicated that 3.5 million text messages were sent every minute. This is a fraction of the text messages sent this year. 15.2 million texts are sent every minute. This is a 334% increase.
More People are Snapping – Snapchat users shared 527,760 snaps a minute, compared to Twitter’s 456,000 tweets or Instagram’s 46,740 photos posted.
Gifs are Great – Giphy serves 694,444 Gifs per minute.
Video is King – YouTube users are watching 4,146,600 videos per minute and, while it is just a fraction of YouTube, BuzzFeed users view 50,925 videos every minute and Netflix users stream 69,444 hours of video a minute.
Online Shopping is Queen – Amazon makes $ 258,751.90 in sales every minute.
Weather is Crucial – There are 18,055,555 forecast requests every minute.
Cash is Out – People are paying each other through Venmo, they are processing $ 51,892 a minute in peer-to-peer transactions.
People are Still Googling – There are 3,607,080 searches conducted via Google each minute.
