Following the iOS 18 update, many more phones have RCS. Now marketers can reach these users with rich content.

Sinch introduces RCS features in Customer Dashboard

Mobile experience company Sinch announced RCS features are now available in the Sinch Customer Dashboard, allowing marketers to integrate rich content into mobile message (SMS) campaigns.

In the U.S., RCS (rich communication services) was a little used version of SMS messages only available on Android, until this year. Apple added RCS to iOS 18, significantly increasing the reach of RCS, which include options for video content and interactive features like buttons.

 

RSC onboarding. In order to add RCS to mobile messaging campaigns, users first set up an RCS Agent in the Sinch Customer Dashboard. The Sinch platform also helps marketers secure approvals from Google and mobile network operators to allow marketers to message in RCS.

Customer Dashboard. Once approved, marketers manage RCS Agents and messaging in the Sinch Customer Dashboard. From here they can also monitor active campaigns.

Provisioning API. For businesses looking to include RCS into their own platform and solutions, Sinch offers the Provisioning API, which expedites the launch of RCS campaigns for clients.

These options allow Application Service Providers (ASPs), resellers and direct brands to adopt RCS in campaigns in a privacy-compliant and secure way.

Flexibility. As iPhone users in the U.S. and other markets are exposed to more RCS messages, they’ll likely be more receptive to receiving this format from brands. They might even expect it. The addition of RCS functionality in Sinch’s platform allows brands already using SMS to quickly respond to this sea change.

Conversational tool. As part of Sinch’s RCS Upscale offering, brands can use the company’s Conversation API, which now supports conversational experiences with RCS.

Why we care. First there was SMS. Traditionally a channel to text friends and family, many consumers now use it to buy from brands and receive service alerts, among other uses.

Rich content through texts in RCS delivers a more interactive digital experience. While SMS can include a web link that takes a customer to a form, RCS can support more of that experience in the message itself, making the overall customer journey more seamless.
