What Is A Website Strategy

— July 5, 2018

A website can sell, generate leads and income 24/7 365 days a year. But only if constructed with correct code. Assuming it’s just a website is like saying it’s just a house. Wix and Square Space customers can be swayed to go this route due to cost. But there are long-term problems that will occur once you gain momentum online. But let’s break down what Keanu Reeves is not telling you on that motorcycle. Let’s talk about what a website strategy is and isn’t.

The Hidden Costs

There’s that templated website smell first of all. Don’t get me wrong, it has it’s place. Even WordPress has thousands of themes to download. Yet, there is a catch there too (link to my post about WordPress.com vs WordPress.org). There’s also the technical knowledge you’ll need. Like when you realize that you need more visibility in search and marketing tools. Differentiating yourself from your competitors isn’t done with using doing it yourself tools.

What Is A Website Strategy

You can’t run your business, be a marketer, SEO expert, content creator, and designer. No matter how much time you put in. Your expectations for a custom website should be at least around $ 90-150 an hour. This doesn’t include photography, video, or the editing of those assets. not to mention if you want your logo and custom art or graphics.

Customization Of Features

There are different kinds of websites that you can get. A simple brochure site is the most common that has your business name and address on it, but what if you want more? To sell online you need a cart solution, and e-commerce sites are not just installing a plugin. You’ll need to figure out how customers are going to pay you and you collecting payment. And let’s not forget collecting taxes and how each state has different rates.

Other types of websites are:

Medium Business
Brochure
Simple eCommerce
Simple Blog
Small Business
Marketing Site
Complex Blog
Corporate
Advocacy/Non-profit
Online Learning (LMS)
Large Commerce (B2B or B2C)
Membership/Subscription

What Is A Website Strategy?

What site you need built varies in the cost due to the time it takes to code and plan. Think about your content. What do you want the website to say? How many pages? Have you thought about how your visitors will arrive to your site? On-page and off-page SEO are required if you want to be seen and found.
